Consultation on ASD Proposals
Consultation on a proposal to establish SEN provision at All Saints Church of England (Aided) Primary School, Wigston.
As an inclusive and outward looking primary school, All Saints is continually striving to provide the best education for each child on roll. We take pride in our ability to provide a first class education for pupils of all abilities. With this in mind, over the past two years we have successfully developed in house provision for pupils who have an Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis and now we wish to extend this provision further.
The Governors propose to establish a ten place ASD Specialist provision at All Saints. Places would be for highly functioning ASD pupils 4-11 years who have an EHCP (Educational and Health Care Plan), but are not able to cope with the demands of a mainstream placement; admissions would be agreed with the Local Authority. There would be specialist staff employed in the ASD base, working alongside partners. The ASD base would be managed by the existing school and there would be opportunity for outreach work with partner schools in the locality.
This base would place specialist primary ASD provision within the heart of Wigston, for local pupils and their families to access specialist provision with their community. By developing the provision the school will become a mainstream school with identified specialist provision.
Further information regarding this proposal can be found by clicking on the left hand menu. There will also be two drop in sessions at the school at 9am November 22nd 2017 and 3pm and 6pm on December 5th 2017. Governors’ and staff will be available to talk through the proposals.
Before proceeding further our Governors would like to hear your views on the proposals. If you wish to comment could you please put this in writing to the Chair of Governors, Mrs Karen Green, at the school, (Contact details below) by 20th December 2017.
Alternatively, if you are a parent or carer of a pupil at the school, you can use your child’s class Dojo to send an electronic response. Please make it clear in your message it is an ASD Proposal response. Thank you.
There will also be a box in the school office foyer in which to post paper responses.
We look forward to our continued partnership as we move into this exciting period of development for pupils and families in our community
